4/9/2007 - Avian and Human Influenza (AHI) - Job positions

Job positions : Reinforcement of the ALive Secretariat to conduct activities on the prevention and control of AHI in sub-Saharan Africa

To conduct all the activities relating to the prevention and control of AHI (see  article on the ALive's involvement in the prevention and control of AHI in the What's New section), it was decided during the last Executive Committee meeting (EC7 - Nairobi, October 2006) that the ALive Secretariat be reinforced, with at least two persons: one livestock specialist and one human health specialist, who will be in charge of monitoring the AHI activities throughout their implementation and ensuring technical quality in their respective fields. The livestock specialist will however have a double mandate: in addition to his/her tasks specifically relating to AHI as exposed above, he/she will also assume the responsibilities of co-manager of ALive, assisting the current Program Manager of ALive, Francois Le Gall, in his daily tasks.

A transparent, open and competitive recruitment process for these two persons, following the World Bank procedures, has therefore been launched.

- the position for the Human Health Specialist is now closed.
- the position for the Animal Health Specialist is now open. Please click on this link to get all details regarding this position and apply. Registration for applying will close on APril 18, 2007.
NB : These additional persons will not cover all the needs for the Secretariat, and as discussed during the EC7, a study to determine the missions of the Secretariat as well as to a financial and logistical assessment for its daily operation will be also conducted shortly.
