From 2001 to 2004, the World Bank, in collaboration with the Investment Centre of the FAO and two African countries, Mauritania and Burkina Faso, conducted two diagnostic studies named "Livestock Poverty Growth Initiatives" ("Initiatives Elevage Pauvreté Croissance" ou IEPC).
The results show that these diagnoses of the livestock sector, approved by the national government and integrated into sector planning documents have motivated donors to invest in the sector.
