The Seventh meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive (EC7) took place in Nairobi on October 23 and 24, 2006 under the leadership of its current chairman, Dr. Bernard Vallat.
The objectives of this meeting were: (i) to prepare for the next day’s General Assembly (GA2); (ii) to draw up the second annual institutional, technical and financial summary of the Partnership’s activities; (iii) to define the next program-budget (2006-2007) and (iv) undertake a complete assessment of AHI activities within the framework of the Bamako Conference.

Sixth Meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive (EC6) – Bamako, April 24 and 25, 2006
The Sixth Meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive took place in Bamako on April 24 and 25, 2006, under the chairmanship of Dr. Bernard Vallat.
Once more, avian influenza was the main topic of discussion: results of the International Conference in Beijing were summarized (one issue being the low level of mobilization for Africa on the part of the international donor community); a preliminary portfolio of avian influenza projects in Africa was presented; and, finally, preparations were made for the International Conference in Vienna (June 6 and 7, 2006) with the development of a joint document setting out the needs assessment for Africa.

Fifth Meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive (EC5) – Nairobi, October 22 and 23, 2005
The fifth meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive took place in Nairobi on October 22 and 23, 2005, under the chairmanship of Dr. Bernard Vallat.
In addition to a review of activities of the Partnership, discussion essentially dealt with avian influenza, which had not yet emerged on the African continent as of that date, but still posed a major threat. The Regional Plan for Prevention and Control of Avian and Human Influenza was therefore presented by the Director of BIRA and debated, so that a joint plan, approved by all stakeholders involved in livestock in Africa, could be submitted to the Conference of African Ministers of Livestock (Kigali, Rwanda, November 2005).

Fourth Meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive (EC4) – Paris, May 30, 2005
The fourh Meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive took place in the Paris offices of the World Bank on May 30, 2005, under the chairmanship of Dr. Bernard Vallat.
The objectives of this meeting were: (i) to prepare for the next day’s General Assembly by adopting a joint position on issues related to the possible transfer of governance of ALive to an African institution; (ii) to draw up the first annual institutional, technical and financial summary of the Partnership’s activities; and (iii) to define the next program-budget (2005-2006). France/MAE pledged to allocate the sum of USD 200,000 by June 2005 to inaugurate the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for ALive.
A supplemental meeting of the Executive Committee was held at the conclusion of the First Ordinary General Assembly (GA1) to express the provisions worked out in the GA1 in the form of official decisions.
The Third Meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive took place via videoconference on November 30, 2004 and took stock of the technical and financial implementation of ALive’s activities. Implementation of the annual program as defined at the EC2 suffered some delays, since funds pledged to the Multi-Donor Trust Fund for ALive failed to materialize.
The Second Meeting of the Executive Committee of ALive took place in Paris via videoconference on July 26, 2004.
Its objective was to define an initial program-budget for 2004-2005, with five activities/groups of activities designated as implementation priorities: (i) review of the livestock portfolio; (ii) preparation of Policy Notes; (iii) strengthening of veterinary departments; (iv) development of a methodology for livestock PRSPs; and (v) all activities included under Theme IV (support for governing bodies) in order to facilitate the operation of the platform.
