GENERALITIES ABOUT ALIVE

ALive is a partnership among organizations, regional and international institutions, civil society, donors, research and training institutions and all other actors involved in livestock development in Africa. The objective shared by all stakeholders mentioned is to improve livestock sector’s contribution to poverty alleviation and sustainable economic growth.

ALive is ideally positioned to support livestock initiatives taken in the framework of
NEPAD/AU , notably its Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme 2 (CAADP2) implementation. It also contributes to reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

 

More specifically, the partnership intends to improve livestock sector contribution by:

i) increasing participation of beneficiaries, collaboration between donors and partners, and also ensuring the sustainability of regional and local institutions,

ii) improving knowledge of the livestock sector and strategies &
formulation of action plans at the national, regional and continental level,

iii) promoting collaboration / regional integration, knowledge sharing, sub-regional training and capacity building,

iv) integrating these results in current and future operational programs, initiated by ALive partners.
